have we lost our originality to artificial intelligence?

i’ll be the first to admit that i’ve gained a huge dependence on artificial intelligence and i use it in every part of my daily life. i pay for chatgpt premium and there’s a high chance i use it at least once a day. and to make it clear, this isn’t a post on the pros and cons of AI, we are all aware of those points.

i mean more so our original thoughts and ability to formulate answers on our own. before i would write my own emails and would either scour quizlet or brainly for exam prep or helping me answer homework. i would still have to determine if it’s true and understand the process myself. but after chatgpt i realized i didn’t need any of that. the convenience was overwhelming, and it’s hard to reject this level of convenience.

however its clear to me how much i default to it and i’ve been losing my ability to perform simpler tasks that i’ve completely let chatgpt take control of. as humans we love finding the easier path, the easiest way to achieve something, the easy way to live. and i’ve found that artificial intelligence has made everything just that, easy.

maybe too easy. it’s so effortless to have it write our thoughts out and paste that. it’s so smooth and simple to have AI make a plan for us and help us with every area of our lives. so to me that makes me think did we lose our originality and our personality in the midst of all of these?

even though i’m struggling to think about more to write and that itself proves the point that artificial intelligence has hindered our thinking process. i just know that to reverse it, i have to write more often and struggle more so i can be a better writer. a better thinker. and someone who can formulate their own thoughts. i still use artificial intelligence but i don’t want it to do the things i love like create art and write. i want to pursue my passions in a way that makes me excited to do more. not in a way that makes me excited to just get it over with.

maybe artificial intelligence has taken my originality, but it’s not impossible to undo and get it back.
